This is an early 1900s floral enamel silver electroplated compact card case or dance purse with a wristlet chain for carrying.  The piece is in wonderful condition; no dents or dings, just ever so slight tarnish; no damage to the beautiful enamel lid.  It's a heavy piece for it's size, and well made.  It opens and closes perfectly, and has two sections inside.  One has a clip and a celluloid base that is held in place by a silver frame.  Possibly to add a photo or information card.  The other side has a holographic double sided lid that opens to a compartment for other small items.  The compact measures approximately 3 1/4 inches by 2 inches, and has a 4 inch drop from the wristlet chain to the top of the compact.  It is hallmarked with "EP Silver" on the inside rim.
